UN Representative for Refugees Caroline Lindholm Billing visits Irpin

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine Carolina Lindholm Billing visited Irpin. This was announced by the deputy of the Irpin city council Petro Zbrozhek on his Facebook page.

Carolina Lindholm Billing visited the tent camp, which is home to 120 homeless people, and discussed with the city authorities the possibility of helping Irpin to rebuild the partially destroyed buildings. Preference will be given to socially vulnerable groups, namely people with disabilities, large families, families with children with special needs.

“In the near future, the group will come with its financial program, with specific proposals and steps for its implementation. According to preliminary agreements, we are ready to start with private houses, where the most vulnerable people live. If the program is agreed, financed, in the near future the organization will come to Irpin with such assistance”, the deputy wrote.

Earlier we wrote that representatives of the UN mission work in Irpin, and the city was visited by the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths.

It will be recalled that the UN satellite center showed images from space on the outskirts of Kyiv, as well as Mariupol and Chernihiv, which were damaged or virtually destroyed by a full-scale Russian invasion. The photo zonally superimposed geoinformation data on visible damage. The most affected city in the database of the center – Irpin (71%).
