Almost 200 Irpin Residents Were Sheltered in Born, Germany
Almost 200 women and children from Irpin received shelter in the German town of Born. This was announced by Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn on his Facebook page.
According to him, this was possible thanks to the efforts of the mayor of the twin city of Irpin Simone Ludtke, who recently visited Irpin.
“Ms. Simone managed to unite the Born community to help the people of Irpin, and today they found safe haven for 170 women and children from Irpin who were forced to flee their homes due to the war. Many thanks to all the inhabitants of Born for the good they do for the people of Irpin! We will never forget this!”, wrote the head of Irpin.
Oleksandr Markushyn also noted the woman’s courage and thanked for the support. “Together with the Chairman of the Irpin Investment Council Volodymyr Karplyuk, I am sincerely grateful to Ms. Simone for the support we feel today. For her courage to come to Irpin at a time when Ukraine is being shelled by the enemy and to support us not only with words but also with real deeds”, the mayor of Irpin stressed.
It will be recalled that Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa visited Irpin today and said that he would not “forget” his trip to Irpin, from which he began his visit to Ukraine.
