“Cycling Dream” of Irpin: at the Irpin Reconstruction Summit the Cycling Route “Bucha-Irpin-Kyiv” Was Presented

The Bike City consulting team presented at the Irpin Reconstruction Summit a sketch project-visualization of the “cycling dream” of Irpin – the intercity bicycle route “Bucha-Irpin-Kyiv”. This was announced by the head of the Sector of the organization of the bicycle network DTI KSCA Stanislav Klymenko.

“This cycling route is ambitious, requires the involvement and interest of 3 cities and Ukravtodor, but it is absolutely realistic and, if desired, implemented. Irpin became the first city to express its interest. Pre-war indicators of bicycle traffic in the direction of Irpin and Bucha were the highest in the whole agglomeration of Kyiv. During the active hostilities, the bicycle became almost the only means of evacuation from the city. And the embankment along the Irpin River has been a tourist and recreational magnet for cyclists for several years. That is why this demand for bicycle traffic should be supported by the offer of high-quality infrastructure of the bicycle route”, the statement reads.
