The Canadian Parliament Has Condemned Russia’s Crimes in Bucha and Called for Increased Support for Ukraine
The Parliament of Canada has adopted a resolution condemning crime against humanity and war crimes of Russia in Bucha and calling for increased defense support for Ukraine, writes European pravda.
“It was unanimously agreed that, in the light of the horrific reports received from Bucha, the House of Representatives strongly condemns crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Vladimir Putin, Russian military and Russian-backed forces”, the statement said.
As it became known, the Parliament of Canada appealed to:
- provide further assistance to Ukraine to protect itself from Russian aggression;
- ensure that cases of crimes against humanity and war crimes are documented and that Russia is brought to justice for these crimes in the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice;
- provide much-needed economic support to Ukraine, including the introduction of further severe economic sanctions against the Russian regime and those who support it, including even tougher trade restrictions and economic sanctions, and the continued freezing of assets of Russian oligarchs and their families.
On Monday, Canadian Minister of International Affairs Melanie Jolie said that images from Bucha clearly show war crimes.
“This weekend the world witnessed a disgusting and senseless attack on innocent civilians in Bucha. These terrorist acts will not be unpunished”, Jolie said.
