Yan Javelin, Javelin: What Names Do Ukrainians Choose for Children During the War?

Ukrainians began to name children after anti-tank missile systems. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

“When choosing the name of a newborn child, parents often consider the following factors: family traditions, fashion trends, national, religious and even political views of parents. For some, the war in which Ukrainians have been fighting for the independence and sovereignty of our state for the second month has played a decisive role in choosing a name for their little ones”, the statement reads.

As it became known, in Kyiv a newborn girl was named Javelin, and a boy in Vinnytsia region was named Yan Javelin.

The ministry singled out no less original names, which chose 10 young parents for their children.

For boys: Oded, Velyslav, Askold, Dorofey, Yereniy, Levkiyan, Suleyman, Kay, Yaremiy, Eney, Lemuel, Yusuf, Ahil, Luchezar, Solomon, Mykail-Myr.

For girls: Dobryana, Afina, Akylina, Dzvenyslava, Fevroniya, Rugaya, Aylin, Shashana, Lilu, Milada, Roksolana, Astrid, Eustasia, Yasnodara.
