Olga Sefanishyna Visited Irpin And Bucha Together with the UN Under-Secretary-General

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna visited Irpin and Bucha together with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths. This was announced by the press service of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

“We have witnessed not only the atrocities committed by the occupiers, but also the testimonies of people who were held hostage by Russian soldiers. All these atrocities have been recorded and a special UN mission on human rights will start working tomorrow”, Olga Stefanishyna said.

In particular, Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn and representatives of local authorities in Bucha spoke about the consequences of the destruction and crimes committed by the Russian army.

“The Russian army is torturing and killing civilians – women, men and even children, blocking and shelling humanitarian corridors. We hope that the UN structures will put pressure on the Kremlin by all available means to end this war which objective is to destroy the Ukrainian statehood and our people”, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, 1,247 war crimes have been reported in the Kyiv region so far.

According to the UN, as a result of Russian armed aggression, more than 6 million Ukrainians today are deprived of basic amenities. As a result of damage to public infrastructure, 1.4 million people do not have access to water.

It will be recalled that the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths personally visited Irpin and Bucha yesterday to see what the city and its residents had to go through.
