An Enemy Sniper Shot at a Resident of Irpin When He Climbed to the Roof to Get in Touch with His Relatives
Vitaliy, a resident of Irpin, climbed to the roof of his house which is located in the apartment complex “Fortuna-2” to get in touch with his relatives when he was shot at by the sniper. This was told by his neighbors – Serhiy and Svitlana, who found a bloodied man almost unconscious on the stairs of the complex. The man could move on his own for some time.
“When the shelling and explosions subsided a bit, my wife and I went up from the shelter to the apartment to feed the cat and find candles, because there was no light in our apartment for several days, and we heard some incomprehensible sounds upstairs. At our own risk, we went up to check what was happening there, and Vitaliy was lying there asking for help, he said that he had been shot”, Serhiy said.
He notes that he called other neighbors for help, and they provided first aid to the wounded and took him to the Irpin military hospital. “Vitaly lost a lot of blood because the bullet that hit his stomach had a shifted center of gravity, which severely damaged his internal organs. He urgently needed surgery, but the hospital was not fully operational and there were no surgeons on site. We left Vitaliy there, but we don’t know if the doctors managed to save his life, there is still no connection with him” said Oleksandr, who provided first aid to the wounded and took him to a medical facility.
According to him, the sniper was probably in the houses of the “Grand Life” residential complex, located next to the “Fortuna-2” apartment complex. “If we analyze where the bullet hit, we can conclude that they fired from the opposite building. After the occupiers invaded the territory of our residential complex, several of them remained and scattered around, sometimes going to shops and pharmacies, looting. Snipers are sitting on the tops of the buildings, sometimes they shoot at people near the entrances, so it is very dangerous to go outside now” Oleksandr concluded.
The editorial office of the “Irpinskyi Visnyk” tried to contact the Irpin Military Hospital but unsuccessfully. As you know, since March 5th there is no light, no gas, no water, no mobile communication in Irpin. The mobile connection can only be picked very high, so people climb to the highest floors or roofs of buildings. We hope that Vitaliy’s life was saved in the medical institution, as the victim deliberately stayed in Irpin and helped the residents to evacuate, which saved many lives.
