A Doctor From Irpin Is Now Saving Lives in the Novovolynsk Hospital

Danilo Lisnyak, the head of the intensive care and anesthesiology department at the Irpin Central Medical Center, an anesthesiologist with 42 years of experience, is now saving lives at Novovolynsk Hospital. From the first day of the war, he treated the wounded in the enemy’s rear. This was reported in the Novovolynsk city hospital.

February 24… The anesthesiologist, as usual, came to work, but stayed there for three weeks.

“About 6 o’clock in the morning I got a call saying: ‘The war has begun’. We knew this anyway, planes were flying over us. I arrived at work on February 24 and left on March 12.

Gostomel airport, where the war began, 3 kilometers from Irpin Hospital. From the first day the wounded arrived. The occupiers followed the Kyiv-Kovel-Yagodyn highway and were in Bucha on the third day. It was already impossible to get to Irpin through blown up bridges.

At first, wounded soldiers were brought to the Irpin Central City Hospital, then civilians, and the military was already taken to a military hospital. Then came those who were found in the basements.

All the time during the occupation, medics worked to the sound of explosions. We did the same job as usual. Operated, delivered babies. Babies were born to the sound of shelling. Doctors are used to it, because there is nowhere to go.

We were in the rear of the enemy – without water, heat and light. The occupiers fired everywhere, hitting neighboring houses a few meters away. God forbid, the hospital was not hit.

In Vorzel, the occupiers took the local wounded to the maternity hospital. They were not even released for medical treatment.

It was impossible for people to get to the hospital, as well as for the medics to the victims – shelling, explosions…

When the humanitarian corridor was made in Kyiv, the first group of wounded was sent from the Irpin hospital on the first day, the second group on the second day, and the medical staff left, and on the last day, the administration.
