I Still Wonder If My Russophobia Is Enough: a Ukrainian Woman About the Occupation of Irpin Region

The representative of the International Foundation “Vidrodzhennya” shared her feelings and thoughts about the arrival of the Russian world in Irpin region, which have been bothering her in recent days. Olga Galchenko wrote about this on her Facebook page.

She notes that “the only thing she thinks about these last days when she goes to the previously occupied villages and towns is whether her Russophobia is enough”. “Will it be enough to simply despise Russian soldiers who rape Ukrainian girls as a group; who are killing guys? Can we just wish them a painful and slow death while they receive titles and honors in their perverted country? Will I remain a whole and normal person if I call for the destruction of these painful groups? Or maybe it’s better for them to be legally punished – because they really don’t expect that”, she said.

She notes that it is easy to kill, rape, destroy – and bear no responsibility. Here is her text.

“Here, for example, a small – tiny village. It got lost between Borodyanka and Makariv. The longest occupation by the Russians: they were already there on February 25, and only left in early April. A community of 400 people. 73 houses were destroyed. Just imagine. Part under the root, part just destruction that cannot be restored. 15 people were shot. They were just the youngest, strongest guys. They did not even have time to create self-defense or territorial defense, they were simply destroyed immediately.

Three died “quietly”: shells fell on them and burned everything. I managed to see the bones and the pit from the bomb. Bones! Living people who were until recently, but who disappeared because the arrival of the Russian bomb was in their yard.

Some forty (!!!) disappeared. In fact, everyone in the village knows how and when. There was a convoy of 14 cars – children, women, elderly men – trying to leave.

The Russians gave them a “green corridor”. Green, f*cking corridor. Well, we know what that means. They did not know. I will probably write about this column separately. Further. Dozens of rapes. Ten! Everyone knows everything. They know that there were virgin offended girls, that there were murders, that there were disgusting, painful crimes. But there will be nothing in the official statistics, because none of them filed a complaint with the police. None. We talked to all the people, to the families. I cried, I really cried with them, with the whole of Ukraine,” she wrote, adding that she is still crying. “I cry, and cry, and cry – because the truth is, our Russophobia is lacking. They are all – EVERYONE has to answer. Then, perhaps, my Russophobia will calm down”, Olena Galchenko emphasized.
